As a result, police and Defense Force officers were kept busy rounding up the hooligans who decided to take weapons into the bands and to create disturbances and engage in fights.
Some even physically assaulted members of the security detail on duty, but they were met with appropriate restraint by the lawmen.

Police say that “Unfortunately, due to several incidents that occurred during J’ouvert, a decision was made in the interest of public safety to restrict the event to 10:00 a.m.”
The Police say they are aware that a number of the incidents were gang-related and the others were fights that occurred during the street jam.
