PRESIDENT of St. Kitts-Nevis Athletics (SKNA), Delwayne Delaney is optimistic about the 2021 Athletics season despite the threat posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has curtailed many of the sports programmes locally and globally.

Updating SKNVibes Sports on plans for the 2021 Season, Delaney said his team is currently working to ensure that the season runs smoothly ahead while being cognisant of the protocols and the necessary restrictions currently in place by the National COVID-19 Task Force. The season was expected to sprint off on last Friday (Jan. 29) with one of a series of Challenger Meets, formerly the Developmental series.

“Our executive team has been working very hard to ensure that we execute our plans and programmes as best as possible. We know that it will be difficult as we are still in the pandemic, but, nevertheless, with the clubs’ support and the athletes we know we can do great things for this season,” noted Delaney.
