AFTER losing the title in 2020, the Charles E Mills Secondary School (CEMSS) displayed grit, determination and the will to win and return as champions of the 2023 Giant Malt High School Relay Festival at the Kim Collins Athletics Stadium on Sunday (Jan. 29).
In the first Festival since the onset of the pandemic, CEMSS showed that its best athletes are still around and that the institution is still strong to compete in track and field programmes.
When the dust settled on a cold and damp evening at the Stadium, CEMSS ended with nine Gold Medals to beat out defending champions Basseterre High School with six and the Charlestown Secondary School with four Gold Medals.
There was a very large turnout at the return of the Festival and the event was acknowledged by the Minister of Education, Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, who was in attendance.
