Dr. Harris Loses Three Appeals Cases Against Dr Douglas

Prime Minister Timothy Harris, in his civilian capacity, has been ordered to pay legal costs to Opposition Leader Dr. Denzil Douglas and three other persons after the Court of Appeal on Tuesday dismissed his three appeals in defamation cases.Attorney Sylvester Anthony, who leads the defense teams in all three cases.

The three defamation matters brought by Dr. Harris, the first two claims were brought in July 2014 after Dr. Harris had been dismissed by Dr. Douglas. The first claim was against Dr. Douglas, Juni Liburd and Charles Jong and involved statements allegedly made by Dr. Douglas at a public political meeting of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party in Saddlers Village. The second claim was against Nigel Carty, Juni Liburd and for statements.
