Hamilton Estate man convicted, remanded on three firearm-related charges

LAWTON FORBES of Hamilton Estate, Nevis was on Thursday (Nov. 28) convicted for the offences of Wounding with Intent, Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

He was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison pending his sentencing hearing on Monday, April 20, 2020.The offences were reportedly committed on Friday, March 4, 2016.Back then, a police communiqué had stated that Forbes was also charged with Smuggling of an Illegal Firearm into the Federation.“The charges stem from a shooting incident in Charlestown on Friday (March 4) and a stop and search conducted while officers were responding the reported gunfire in Charlestown.
Information that reached SKNVibes on the day of the incident stated that two individuals were engaged in an altercation in the vicinity of the Octagon Bar in Charlestown around 9:00 p.m., with one of them chasing the other and shots were fired during the process.It also stated that while the incident was taking place, a male and a female, who were on Hunkins Drive.
