Increased seizures by Customs and Excise in first 3 months

THE Customs and Excise Department (CED) has recorded an increase in the number of seizures made during the first quarter of 2018.
Thus far this year, the Department has recorded six seizures. Included in those finds were cannabis, one pistol with a matching magazine, and cocaine.According to the Department, the cannabis totaled EC$450,000, with the most recent seizure on Monday 26th March 2018.
For the same period in 2017, the department only netted three seizures, according to Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Jomo Butler.Though he could not provide additional information on the seizures, due to the fact that they are under investigations, he noted that it is increased diligence.
