Japan contributes to enhance St. Kitts and Nevis’ fisheries sector

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 15, 2019 (SKNIS)

St. Kitts and Nevis and Japan signed an exchange of note for a development cooperation project entitled ‘Economic and Social Development Programme and Grant Assistance’ of just under two million United States Dollars at a brief but significant ceremony on Thursday, August 15, 2019. The Honourable Eugene Hamilton, Minister of Agriculture, Marine Resources, Cooperatives and Environment, and His Excellency (H.E.) Tatsuo Hirayama, Ambassador of Japan, signed the exchange of note that is expected to significantly benefit the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

“This grant would be used for the purchase of equipment for the development of the fisheries sector in this country,” said Ambassador Hirayama, noting that “for human kind, the ocean is an absolutely essential part of life for many reasons”.
