Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position Lab Manager at the St. Kitts Biomedical Research Foundation, Lower Bourryeau Estate, St. Kitts.

Job Description
The selected applicant will be responsible for providing laboratory management and scientific equipment operation and support for studies exploring disease physiology and evaluating the pharmacokinetics, efficacy and safety of candidate therapeutics.
Primary responsibilities will include:
• Establishing expertise with research instrumentation and managing application for in vivo studies
• Conducting quantitative analyses in support of sponsored in vivo research projects
• Maintenance of equipment logs and performing quality control on equipment operation and research application
• Coordinating laboratory operations with respect to facility standard operating procedures and good laboratory practices
• Maintaining infrastructure to support sample storage, handling, shipment, recordkeeping, and related communications to research and logistics counterparts
• Contributing to technical and scientific reports
• Contributing to the definition of appropriate research supplies and ensuring their availability in coordination with research and logistics colleagues
• Participation in scientific conferences and contribution to scientific and commercial publications, as needed
Education/Experience Requirements
• Requires a BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or related field and a minimum of 3-5 years of laboratory experience, or MS or PhD with 1-3 years of experience
• Ideal candidates will possess 2+ years of industry experience, preferably in a supervisory role
• Exceptionally intelligent and motivated candidates with less experience are also encouraged to apply
Additional Requirements of Successful Candidate
• Experience in preparing and following research protocols and standard operating procedures
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Proven experience managing laboratory operations and associated teams to achieve project goals
• Demonstrated ability to establish and optimize new equipment and procedural methods is a major plus
• Prior experience working in multicultural settings considered a significant strength
• Prior experience with procurement and international shipping considered a significant strength
