Kenrick “Rico” Simmonds, son of former Prime Minister Dr. Sir Kennedy Simmonds, is back before the magistrate court this week for the resumption of his drug trial.Simmonds, a resident of Bird Rock, is one of three persons charged in connection to an October 2015 drug bust at Conaree Beach. Also charged are Tenielle “Blaze” Percival of Lime Kiln and Antigua national Greg Williamson.

Police shot and killed the fourth individual allegedly involved in the early morning bust, Obie “Small Breeze” Baron of Dominica.Police allege that the two foreign nationals arrived at the beach in a small boat carrying four bales of compressed marijuana valued at close to EC one million dollars, where they were to have met with the two locals.Simmonds, who was not arrested at the scene, was slapped with several drug offences including importation of cannabis, a number of aiding and abetting charges, and a conspiracy charge.
