St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Former Chief Medical Officer and social commentator Dr. Patrick Martin is calling for all government information to be available online to facilitate greater knowledge and verification among citizens.

“Arrogance in governance is hostile to the oath of office which is in our constitution. Defective decision making leads to waste, fraud and abuse. The FOI and the IPL are linked, enacting them sends a powerful message, before God and man my hands are clean. Cleans hands in government limits waste, fraud and abuse. I take the view that these two pieces of legislation are not about I got ya, but to promote the highest possible levels of integrity and accountability.”

A guest on Operation Rescue, hosted by former national security minister Dwyer Astaphan, Dr. Martin argued that the enactment of Freedom of Information and Integrity in Public Life Legislation is critical to the process.
