BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – NO watches or warnings have been put in place for the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis but residents are asked to monitor the movement of Hurricane Danny which is churning its way through the Atlantic.

Information which was given by the St. Kitts Meteorological Office today (Aug. 20), indicates that as at 11:32 a.m., the cyclone was located at latitude 12.5N and longitude 44.8W, which is about 1075 miles to the southeast of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Danny is steadily moving in a west-north-westerly direction at 12 miles per hour and that general motion is expected to continue over the upcoming couple of days.

The system has maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour with higher gusts and according to the Met Office, hurricane force winds extend 10 miles from the system’s centre and for a further 60 miles, tropical storm force winds extend.
