NIA Focused On Geothermal Energy Only

Pursuing other forms of renewable energy besides geothermal just doesn’t make economical sense, says Nevis Premier Mark Brantley.Brantley was at the time responding to WINN FM’s question why Nevis was not pursuing solar or wind energy on a large scale.

“Here’s the problem, Nevis is small. The demand for energy is finite at this point. We vary between six and nine megawatts, six at base and nine at peak. So GeothermEX has said to us that they can provide us with nine to ten megawatts for the first going. It therefore means that if we pursue other forms of renewable then a man would come and say he could do solar, he could give you two megawatts.
