LED by Dr. Denzil Douglas, members and supporters of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) took to the streets to protest, Konris Maynard’s 10-day suspension from Parliament today.
The Representative for Constituency Three was recently suspended by Speaker of the National Assembly, Michael Perkins for what he described as gross misconduct.Shortly after midday, Parliamentary Representatives left Masses House, making their way to government Headquarters before marching up and down Church Street.
Maynard, while holding a placard, told reporters he has been illegally suspended from the parliament, and though he sent a letter to the Speaker highlighting errors, he did not respond.“That is why my colleagues and I are in protest of what is happening with democracy here in St. Kitts. Let the opposition speak! The Speaker has to know that his role is to let the opposition have it’s say.
