Police: J’ouvert Shooting Was Accidental Weapon Discharge

Police have cleared the air on a shooting incident that took place during the J’ouvert morning festivities on Wednesday.

The Police High Command issued a statement saying that two persons and an officer were injured during an incident on Fort Street where a police officer’s service weapon was accidentally discharged in a crowd.

They explained that the gun discharged when the officer fell while trying to apprehend an assailant. As a result two females suffered injuries to their legs.

WINN FM understands that neither injury was deemed serious.
