The Ministry of Public Infrastructure is observing Public Works Weeks from May 21-27 to increase awareness across the St. Kitts and Nevis of the importance of public works and to celebrate a group of extremely hardworking and talented workers who have shown remarkable dedication to serving the general public.

The week-long observation is celebrated under the theme “Connecting the World through Public Works.”

“How do we connect the world through public works? We do it through infrastructure – we build and maintain roads and bridges. Also, in ‘Connecting the World through Public Works’ we actually maintain the hospitals and community centers,” said George Gilbert, Director of the Public Works Department, during his May 24 appearance on ‘Infocus.’ So, without this kind of interaction and interfacing, it means that there would be no roads to traverse on, [no hospitals to go to] and no community centers to [use].”
