The National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida has issued a public advisory due the presence of Tropical Depression 6 over the Atlantic Ocean.

The depression is said to have sustained winds of near 35 mph with higher gusts. Winn FM 98.9 contacted the Met Office and spoke to senior met officer Mr. Elmo Burke and asked about the likely impact of the tropical depression on St Kitts and Nevis.

“The tropical depression is expected to turn into a tropical storm however it’s not expected to impact the island chain which includes St Kitts-Nevis. It’s expected to veer right to the northeast of the islands.  We’re not expecting anything major from the system but we will be monitoring it.”
