AFTER a two-year hiatus, due to the Novel Coronavirus, the St. Kitts Music Festival returned with an action-pack ‘jump up’ Soca Night at the Kim Collins Athletics Stadium last evening (Jun. 23).
Soca power houses Destra Garcia, Nadia Batson, and Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons left everything on the stage and many in the near capacity crowd wanting more of their catchy lyrics and electrifying performances.
With many being skeptical of what the event would have been as it was the first since the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, they all left with a different perception after the event finished near dawn.
Rucas H.E kicked off the event and warmed-up the crowd for what was to come, as he loosened the waists and stretched the muscles of all in the audience.
His performance was followed by two popular local bands – Grand Masters and Small Axe – which kept the crowd ‘going’ until Nadia Batson graced the stage and belted out her popular tunes.
Destra, the Queen of Bacchanal, utilised all of her 40 minutes and more, leaving the crowd wanting more from her. She was followed by the Soca Power couple, Buji and Fay-Ann, who both kept the crowd warm and energised as the party went beyond the 2:00 a.m. cutoff time.
