Sugar Mas 51 will be officially declared open on Friday, December 2, 2022. The St Kitts Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC) and the Ministry of Creative Economy have come together to present a spectacular Opening Ceremony estimated to capture the hearts of nationals who have been waiting for a full format Carnival since 2019. In a production dubbed SUGAR MAS WONDERLAND, both groups have expressed satisfaction with the preparation and are excited about the execution.
The opening activities kick off with a parade from the National Museum to Carnival Village at 5pm. Included will be a cross-section of our folklore, past winners, mas bands, and music. Once the parade arrives at Carnival Village, SUGAR MAS WONDERLAND will start with top entertainment, theatrical performances, pageant contestants, competitors of Panorama, folklore, Soca and Calypso Monarch, Music Legends, Jouvert, Junior and Grand Parade Troupes.
