Theme for Diplomatic Week 2019 underscores need for economic, social, environmental and technological resilience

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kaye Bass, while appearing on the Government’s weekly programme, “Working for You”, on March 13, said that the theme for Diplomatic Week 2019 underscores the importance for economic, social, environmental and technological resilience if St. Kitts and Nevis is to survive. She highlighted the need for the twin-island Federation to create partnerships.

The theme for the 2019 Diplomatic Week is “Securing a Resilient Future through Effective Diplomacy and Strategic Dialogue”. The week will run from April 7-12.She quoted the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency’s (CDEMA) definition for resilience which states “Resilience is the ability of a system, community or society exposed to hazards to resist, absorb, accommodate or recover from the effects of a hazard.
